Pretzel and the Bird TV

We installed a bird feeder outside the living room window. Pretzel has not looked at the television since.

She gets up at dawn, sits on the windowsill, and watches. When a cardinal lands on the feeder, she makes a sound I can only describe as a stuttering trill. Her jaw chatters. Her tail twitches. She has never caught a single bird, and she never will.

She has favorites. There is a bluejay she calls out to by name, as far as I can tell. There is a squirrel she despises with her whole heart.

We bought her a proper window perch with a cushion. We keep the window closed. She spends hours there, entertained, exercised and happy.

My husband says we have created the best cat television in the neighborhood. I think she would agree.
