Choosing well
Energy and affection predict day-to-day happiness better than coat color. A very active breed left alone all day may redecorate your home, while a clingy breed can struggle with long absences. Read the full cat breed profiles and talk to reputable breeders or rescues before you decide.
Frequently asked questions
How does the cat breed finder work?
It compares your answers with the energy, affection, grooming, shedding, talkativeness and kid-friendliness ratings printed on each Tailwisp cat breed profile and ranks breeds by how closely they fit.
Does any breed count as hypoallergenic?
No cat is truly allergen-free. Some cats produce less of the main allergen, Fel d 1, or shed less, which may suit some allergic people, but you should spend time with a cat before committing.
Should I choose a breed or adopt a mixed-breed cat?
Both are fine. Most cats in shelters are domestic shorthairs, and personality varies far more within a breed than the ratings suggest. Use the results to learn what traits you want, then meet the individual cat.
Why are some popular breeds missing?
The finder uses the breed profiles published so far, and more are added regularly.
