Waffles vs the Vacuum Cleaner

For years, Waffles ran when the vacuum came out. He would shoot under the bed, ears flat, tail like a bottle brush. We thought he hated it.

Then one Sunday I left the vacuum in the middle of the kitchen to answer the door. When I came back, Waffles was sitting on top of it. Not near it. On it. Like a king on a throne.

He has done it every Sunday since. I turn it off, set it down, and he climbs up. He sits very straight, looks at me, and waits. I have vacuumed one room in the last month, with a cat. It is the slowest cleaning I have ever done.

The best part is the look on his face, which says: of course I planned this. Our neighbors have started to ask for updates.

I do not know why he changed his mind. I like to think he decided the enemy is better as a vehicle. If your cat has strange rules, share them. We want to hear.
